چکیده

In this paper we address the problem of covering narrow indoor or outdoor pathways using a network of mobile Cyclops cameras. We propose and validate a 1D sensingperformance model for the detection behavior of the camera. Based on this, we formulate the covering problem as a new type of 1D locational optimization problem that explicitly accounts for the camera-location dependence of the sensing performance. We propose a distributed control law for reconfiguring camera locations based on the gradient descent approach to solve this problem and prove its convergence. We present simulation results on a pseudo-real data set constructed using indoor experiments.

Distributed Wide Area Scene Analysis in Reconfigurable Camera Networks

Over the past decade, large-scale camera networks have become increasingly prevalent in a wide range of applications, like security and surveillance, disaster response and environmental modeling. In many applications, constraints of bandwidth, security concerns, and difficulty in storing and analyzing huge amounts data centrally at a single location necessitate the development of distributed ca...

Design and evaluation of two distributed methods for sensors placement in Wireless Sensor Networks

Adequate coverage is one of the main problems for distributed wireless sensor networks and The effectiveness of that highly depends on the sensor deployment scheme. Given a finite number of sensors, optimizing the sensor deployment will provide sufficient sensor coverage and save power of sensors for movement to target location to adequate coverage. In this paper, we apply fuzzy logic system to...

Collaborative visual area coverage

This article examines the problem of visual area coverage by a network of Mobile Aerial Agents (MAAs). Each MAA is assumed to be equipped with a downwards facing camera with a conical field of view which covers all points within a circle on the ground. The diameter of that circle is proportional to the altitude of the MAA, whereas the quality of the covered area decreases with the altitude. A d...
